As part of its ongoing plans for promoting and organising motorcycle sport events, the Cork Motorcycle Racing and Vintage Club is happy to announce The Cork Motorcycle Races Glanmire, to be held on the weekend of June 15th/16th at Upper Glanmire and will take in part of the old Cork-Dublin road.
The event has received unanimous support from the business and local community of Glanmire, while the weekend promises to be a family festival and apart from the incredibly exciting motorcycle racing.
The track itself is a 3 cornered, 3 mile course and has received the positive endorsement of both officials and riders alike, making for one of the best tracks on the Motorcycle Road Racing calendar. Ideally situated just off the M8 on the approach to Cork City at Junction 18, it will mean shorter travelling times for competitors and spectators from all over the country. Cork airport is just 15 minutes from the circuit with Dublin just a 2 hour drive.
A full programme of races will take place on the weekend from 125s to 1000cc Superbikes while the nostalgic Classic machines will also grace the track. The cream of Irish motorcycle racing’s elite including Derek Shiels, Michael Pearson, Brian McCormack, Miko Sweeney and Jamie Hamilton will be at Glanmire.
Glanmire is just 6 kilometres outside Cork city and offers a wide variety of shopping and entertainment with lots of bars and restaurants to choose from while accommodation is plentiful with numerous B&Bs and hotels in the immediate area. There will be a number of entertainment events also happening in Glanmire in conjunction with race weekend. Roads will close from 8am to 6pm for practice on Saturday 15th and on race day, Sunday 16th, from 8am until 6pm. For full details: Phone Mark 086 1779420
